So you’re thinking of offloading old Betsie on to a new owner? Well before you do, here’s a couple of tips to help make the transition as easy as possible.
1: Paperwork
Once you’ve sold your vehicle, fill in Part B of your Vehicle Registration Certificate (or Log Book) and send it to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing - Computer Services Division. It’s pretty standard stuff so you can’t really go wrong.
Just remember: never hand over your log book and assume the new owner will do this. You don’t want to be liable for charges that you haven’t incurred.
2: Out with old, in with the spanking new
If you’re trading your old vehicle to a dealership, you will both need to complete Form RF105. This is normally provided by the dealership but if not, you can download it here and bring it with you.
Once that’s done, you just need to present the dealer with your Log Book and you’re done.
Note: Some dealerships might not be able to forward this form to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Computer Services Division for you so once all parties have signed it, you may have to submit it yourself.
3. Selling your car but not getting a new one?
If you have an eFlow account, remember to delete your old car from your account or you may end up paying for the new owners M50 journeys. Just log in to your eFlow account, using your username and password and go to the ‘My Vehicles’ section. Click the red ‘X’ on the right hand side next to your vehicle and select ‘delete car and tag’. That’s it. Your car and tag will be removed. Don’t forget to return your old tag to us to avoid unnecessary charges!
4. Selling your car and getting a new one?
If you have an eFlow tag account, remember to take your eFlow tag out of your old vehicle before you sell it. When you get your new car you’ll be able to simply reassign that eFlow tag to your new vehicle. All you have to do is log in to your eFlow account, using your username and password and go to the ‘My Vehicles’ section. Click the big, yellow ‘Add Vehicle or Reassign a Tag’ button. You can’t miss it! Then just choose which you’d like to do.
